The recent response to a query by NRI Nagesh Tavergere on seeking information on the status of Sepcial Economic Zone (SEZ) Hubli on the status of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) pointed that the NRI seeking information under Right to Information Act is working.
The project was cleared for the proposal of TCL to establish an IT/ITes SEZ on 50 acres in Hubli-Dharbwd with an investment of Rs. 120 crore at the State Hight Level Committee meeting held on Aug-28-2006 but the progress of the project was kinda have burried under somewhere as no progress was seen in the area. Responding to NRI Mr. Nagesh’s request the sattus of the SEZ project grated to TCS said that the company has to accuire the land to be alloted by Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation and Karnatka Inducstrial Area Development Board participating the auction.
As per sources the company itself has not show any aggressive development interest in the prject yet and the progress had been a lukeworm and even the Central Govt has stopped granting in-prinicpal approval of IT SEZ projects.
Any way regardless the status of the project, here the point is that Indian govt office have started responding to NRI requests and that itself is a big in itself.
